PHILIP LIM COLLECTION NEW YORK 2011

The temperature is steadily climbing to the infernal end of the thermometer in New York, so it was a breezy relief to enter Phillip Lim Garment District showroom and find "the beginnings of a quintessential summer wardrobe" (albeit one that doesn't hit stores until November). Translation: loose layers and relaxed silhouettes.

That's not to say Lim has caught the caftan fever that's going around. The designer added shape and chic to his Resort collection by focusing strongly on the waist, adding drawstrings to jumpsuits and cropped parkas and paper-bag closures to tiny shorts. Sometimes, his fascination got the better of him, as in a couple of harem pants whose wraparound sashes gave unnecessary heft. But overall, Lim's downtown clientele will find much to love. Colors are cooler—sky blue, white, sand, mint, and cream—though bursts of hot poppy and marigold appear here and there. Beasts (that is, leopard and ponyhair motifs) joined those flower colors to suggest a nature theme. But in the end, it will all feel right at home on city streets. That ponyhair is print, not skin, to give the look without the heat.

According to our source, the store even sell pizza, drinks, and more for the convenience of their customer. You can see people walking around with their dogs but with a countryside goat, that is awesome!

As we can remember, he tried to visit Starbucks branches in Manhattan which also gained the attention of the world. Not to promote the coffee shop, but just for another fun he can share for everyone. That is way back in the summer of 2007 and now, this year, Mark made a new set of online video that can really turn your heads.

ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH

Alexandre Herchcovitch is syncing up with American retailers and getting in on the annual Resort race. His debut vacation collection was much sweeter than what we're used to seeing from the Brazilian designer—if anything, this was a total 180 from his somber Fall lineup. While a high-necked shift with a dainty but sparse floral print and conservative sleeves came across as almost chaste, foxy bustier tops also popped up a few times; and a crepe de chine dress with corsetlike seaming at the bust that appeared to be layered over a sheer black T-shirt was actually just one piece. Other noteworthy looks included silver cropped pants knotted at the natural waistline for a flattering fit and a shrunken jacket with faintly blouson sleeves that paired like a dream with a matching pencil skirt in pearlized, pastel jacquard. All in all, Herchcovitch maybe played it too safe. But these cute and feminine pieces could very well sell better than the maverick designer's
